A bit about my experience with the phone...
I got my lg renoir around 4 months ago, and so far it has held up good, with only a few shortcomings, but ill get to them later on. If you are interested in buying this phone, then have a look at the Amazon and Ebay prices included in this article, which present quite good offers. Anyway, this is an all round good phone, and though it is no smart phone, the lg renoir still packs in a load of features, one of them being its great 8 megapixel camera and many editing options too. I have dropped the phone on a number of occasions, and although it may present a few minor scratches, the falls in no way diminished my experience with the phone.
Features:
: 8 megapixel camera with schneider kreuznach lens
: Dolby sound system.
: Slow motion video at 120fps
: Fast motion video.
: Multitasking.
: FM radio
: 30fps, vga video recording.
: TFT resistive touch screen, 256k colours. 3.0 inches.
On the outside.....
The LG renoir is a good looking and stylish phone that fits comfortably in your hand will to in your pocket.( just google pictures of the lg renoir renoir and you will be able to see in more detail what i mean). Along the left hand side is a port for the connection cable and micro sd card. glancing across to the right side you will find a uniquely and specially fitted camera button as-well as a button to turn the phone asleep. This side also houses the volume controls. The face of the phone is equipped with a 3.0 inch resistive touch screen, meaning that you will have to press harder for the phone to recognize your touch. I have had problems with this in the past, but all round it works fine. below the screen are 3 buttons, on the far right a red one to hang up a call, on the far left one to answer a call, and positioned in the center is a multitasking button which when pressed will bring up a menu listing your programs open and options to either close these programs or open up new ones.
The phones user interface.
LG Renoir user interface is relatively easy to use, despite the fact that when i first began some of it was a little difficult to understand. The home screen will display your background pictures, with a customizable choice of widgets or shortcuts to add to it. along the base of the screen are four buttons, one that will bring up a dial pad, and another that will bring up your contacts, also present are buttons to show you messaging options and one that will show the menu.In turn the menu will present an array of sections. A call menu, an entertainment menu, a utilities menu, and a settings menu. each leading off to different areas within the phone. Not quite as sleek as the iphone but easy enough.
Camera and video.
As i mentioned before the LG Renoir is equipped with an extremely capable camera. It is 8 megapixel and in my experience will take all round good photos in most conditions, much better then many other camera-phones i have seen anyway. It even comes with a xenon flash which will provide satisfactory photos in low-light conditions.
The editing options for your photos are also among the best i have seen in a phone. In camera settings include a panoramic shot, a beauty shot option, image stabilizer, and touch to shoot photo. As a bonus it also enables geo-tagging and a grid to help shoot photos. Yet another tool on this phone is the inner camera, used to take photos of yourself or for video calling. Once you have taken your desired photo there are a huge amount of options available. You can change the color of your photo to black and white, sepia, color negative , mosaic blur, cartoon, oil painting and tunnel effect. also present is the ability to write on the photo using the touch screen or add type, as well as the option to add borders or pictures to the shot.
The video on this phone is goof compared to other mobiles, but not great. The sound quality isnt the best and the video can often be grainy, but in saying that its still a phone, and with such a great camera you cant really complain. The quality may not be the best, but the options for the videos make for great fun. Slow motion at 120fps and fast motion are the stand outs. These features are great for boring days, and remember, everything looks better in slow motion. I myself have made a number of movies with both the slow motion feature and fast motion, both equally making for a great time. You only have to type in lg renoir slow motion videos on youtube to see the fun that you could be having. In addition to those two great features the renoir presents options for trimming the video and adding voiceover.
Extra notes:
The keyboard for messaging can sometimes be difficult to use. It comes with multiple video playback formats. I personally have had problems with the bluetooth of this phone on some occasions, i also am in relation to others who have had problems, but in most cases this can be easily fixed if you take it back to the store you bought it from. You may need to add a memory card to boost the phones memory as i did if you intend to take many high quality shots.
Conclusion:
All in all the renoir is a good phone, and with full understanding of all its features, makes for much more than an average experience.
Rating: 7/10 value for money: 9/10
